Purpose of the job
Primary responsibility is leading and supporting production team to ensure all production lines are prepared, set up and planned to enable the site runs continuously. Work with existing team, supervising, mentoring and motivating all key production. Support staff to plan the maintenance of all the machinery and run the production operation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Be present and observe all activities on the shop floor and look out for possible issues and remedy as quickly as possible to keep production continuous. Providing help and assistance to Supervisors, Line Leaders and Machine Operators in response to breakdowns and faults and being pro-active in this area.
Duties include liaising with Sales Team to achieve agreed production plan and ensure all operational requirements are prepared and available for production start up and associated paperwork.
Working with site engineer, gain a good understand how all machinery operates including tray makers, labellers, can loaders, laser stripper, shrink wrap ovens, date coders, compressors and cardboard/polythene balers. Then, in conjunction with colleagues, plan preventative maintenance requirements for all machinery and equipment and complete relevant paperwork.
Assisting with all day to day production requirements and liaising with Operations Director and Production Supervisors on continuous development of efficiencies in the factory and ensuring quality targets are met.
Work with Technical Co-ordinator to assist with ensuring all factory staff are adhering to the Quality Manual, assisting with ongoing development of manual and accreditations.
Maintaining regular contact with other departments through the day regarding matters relating to customer requirements, sales order processing, customers’ stock and consumables, including all associated paperwork relevant to each department.
Ensure that the engineering workshop and store is kept neat and tidy and all tools, stock and consumables are managed. Maintaining an accurate Inventory of all tools, consumables, spare parts and checking that they are managed in and out of use and restocking as required.
Promote good team working with your team and good working relations with other departments.
Skills and experience required:
You will have at least 2 years’ experience of production supervising or co-ordinating in a packing or manufacturing environment.
You will have supervisory experience, managing a team of people, ensuring efficiencies and targets are met.
You will have a good understanding of packing and production, and how standards can be continuously maintained.
You will have good communication skills and work well in a team.
You will have good planning skills and good attention to detail.
At certain times, you will have the ability to be flexible on the hours and days that you work.
Working Hours:
Days: Monday -Thursday.
Hours: 7am – 6pm.
