Purpose of the job

We are now recruiting for a Machine and Maintenance Technician to work in a busy contract packing factory.

Primary responsibility is supporting the Maintenance Co-ordinator with daily requirements for all the factory lines and site to ensure continuous running of all the machinery to enhance operational efficiency.

Following a period of Training and Mentoring, duties will include repairing or replacing defective parts, testing and adjusting equipment, and ensuring that all safety requirements are met.

Duties and Responsibilities

Main duties:

Assisting with the daily setup of all production lines and start-up of all machines.
Carrying out preventative maintenance requirements for all machinery and equipment and completing necessary paperwork.
Carrying out daily machine guard checks and completing necessary paperwork.
Providing help and assistance to Supervisors and Line Leaders in response to breakdowns and faults, and being proactive in this area.
Carrying out general site and building maintenance as and when required, and completing enhancements on production lines.
Understand how all machinery operates, including tray makers, labellers, can loaders, shrink wrap ovens, date coders, compressors, and cardboard/polythene balers.
Ensure that the engineering workshop and store are kept tidy and all tools, stock, and consumables are managed.
Ensuring the welfare of yourself and the team around you.
Ensuring the Health & Safety regulations are adhered to at all times.
Ensuring that company policy (as laid down in the employee handbook) is adhered to at all times.
Any other tasks/responsibilities that the company may, from time to time, require you to carry out or assume.

Skills and experience required:

Candidate:

Must be skilled in working with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
Be able to confidently undertake general maintenance and repairs
Ideally have worked in a machinery maintenance, handy person, or caretaker capacity previously, although any experience would be considered
Be well presented and personable
Be organised and able to work to set daily job targets
Have a driving licence
